BURBERRY

It all started with the trench coat - today Burberry is THE flagship for British luxury fashion. The fashion house was founded in 1856 by Thomas Burberry, a men's outfitter and clothier who tailored coats for soldiers in World War I from his specially developed wind- and weatherproof fabric - the birth of the legendary trench coat. The famous check pattern, also called "Burberry Check", soon became the label's trademark. Since 2018, Ricardo Tisci has been the new creative director at Burberry, succeeding Christopher Bailey, who held the post for 16 years. Incidentally, Burberry has been a purveyor to the court of the British royal family since 1955.
