WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
A photo project by artist Maximilan Schwarz focusing on breaking away from heteronormative masculinity.
THE INSPIRATION
“From an early age on, I knew that I did not conform to society's heteronormative ideas and was often made aware of this by others. However, we are facing an increasingly open-minded future in which terms like "masculinity" are being redefined and related stereotypes rethought. Fashion is a progressive vanguard in the sense that it shows us a more fluent form of masculinity, which it carries into the collective mindset of our society. Behind this development is a long history of people blurring the lines between fantasy and reality as well as genders by way of their choice of clothing.”

NO LIMITATIONS
“In modern times, there are many ways to present one's queerness to the outside world, but the most important thing is that there are no rules and limitations. Thus, the photos are not meant to evaluate. But rather to celebrate queerness. I want people to look through the photographs, pause and ask themselves: "what is queerness?" maybe they will find an answer for themselves, or maybe they will just let the photos work their magic on them a magic that is the myriad queer identities and expressions: A celebration of otherness, fluidity and extravagance.”
